Since working in the design and print industry in 1993, I have endeavored to embody the craftsmanship and styling of typography and layout design pre-computer-aided design while injecting a modern aesthetic, hence creating design with the intention of looking timeless.
With a passion for typography of old merged with modernity and a high level of interest in etymology, phonetics, linguistics, and syntax partnered with years of skill-sets in the Adobe range of programs, including the use of Fontographer and FontLab, I design, create, and utilize typefaces while using certain timeless fonts, thus creating typographic identities, branding, signage, packaging, magazine, and book design to relay communication in a way that intermixes with photography and illustration to entice the viewer (not only engaging the market but also creating collectible items).
Working with a wide variety of packaging clients—from the food and beverage industry to the make-up industry—while working in editorial art direction and design, I found great passion in the history of design and typography and a love for art and photography, where I have been lucky to work with many local and world-renowned photographers and artists.
My passion for education in the field of design has also come to fruition, lecturing in desktop publishing, pre-press, and typography for Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia, where I was influential in enabling students to encompass their ability and unique vision for design, furthermore witnessing them succeed in their preferred design roles.
Now, Iowan-based, I focus my time on furthering my skills in creative direction, art direction, design, typography, etymology, phonetics, linguistics, and syntax, while studying history, cosmology, and astrophysics.
